The best Austin dog boarding humans!

“When we pull the car into Austin Dogtown I pretend to be a little sad because I always miss my people when they go on a trip. But I love the Dogtown people who care for me and let me hang out with lots of new dog friends all day long. I’m worn out from play at the end of my stay!”

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What should I pack for my dog’s stay?

A: Keep it simple! We provide all bedding and toys. Just bring your dog’s food portioned into individual bags for each meal, any medications with clear instructions, and keep their collar on them. We’ll take care of everything else to ensure your dog’s comfort and safety.

Q: What happens if I need to extend or shorten my dog’s stay?

A: We understand plans can change. For any stay modifications, contact us as soon as possible to check both availability and options. Standard stays require 3 days’ notice (by 7 AM) to avoid cancellation fees, while holiday periods require 10-21 days’ notice for any changes. For non-holiday visits, late cancellations will be charged for the first five days of their stay, or the full reservation if it is shorter. Late holiday cancellations will be charged for the full reservation.

Q: Can I get updates about my dog during their stay?

A: Absolutely! You’re welcome to email us anytime for updates about your dog, and don’t forget to check Instagram, where we regularly post photos of the boarding dogs. For dedicated attention, we offer our PupDate service for $7 per day, which provides special photo updates of your dog’s stay with us.

Q: What happens if my dog needs medical attention?

A: Your dog’s health is our priority. In case of emergencies requiring acute care, we’ll transport your dog to the nearest animal hospital. For non-emergency situations, such as minor illness or an aggravated previous injury, we’ll contact your designated local emergency contact. This is why we require all boarding clients to provide a local emergency contact.

Q: What are your age requirements?

A: We welcome puppies from 16 weeks of age (with completed vaccinations) through 13 years. This age range ensures all dogs can safely enjoy our active environment while maintaining the energy and stamina for group play.

Q: How do you handle medications?

A: Special medical needs are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. However, we’re experienced in administering basic medications including pills and topical treatments as part of our standard boarding service. All medications must be discussed before your stay, and a medication form must be completed emailed prior to drop off. Your dogs should also arrive for boarding with clear written instructions.

Q: What does a typical day look like for boarding dogs?

A: Boarding dogs start their day with breakfast before the daycare dogs arrive. They then fully participate in our daycare activities throughout the day. Boarding dogs enjoy regular outdoor breaks, dinner between 4-5 PM on weekdays (adjusted for weekends), and a final outdoor bathroom break before bedtime. Overnight, they rest comfortably in their accommodations, with our night manager in their attached apartment should an emergency arise.

"Austin Dogtown is our first choice for boarding services. Their communication during all phases of the process (pre-during-post) is what gives me the greatest peace of mind. The fact that Appa never hesitates to walk into the building lets me know that she feels comfortable there which is what matters most."

— Sarah B.

"We actually used boarding for the first time this year. Because we've been coming here for almost a decade for daycare, I knew she would be safe and well cared for. That trust is paramount when leaving our dog with someone else for an extended period of time!"

— Martine B.

"I like that someone is always there and the dogs are not being locked away in kennels for long periods of time. I also feel good that my dogs are so comfortable at Austin Dogtown because they go to daycare there. That allows me to enjoy the trip versus constantly worrying."

— Katie R.
