What will my dog do all day?

Guests of Austin Dogtown spend the day making friends, playing games, sunbathing, and being out and about with their friends all day. Our staff matches the dogs by size, temperament, and personality. At Dogtown, it’s a dog’s world – after all, we believe in letting dogs be dogs!

Is there an additional fee for boarding dogs to participate in daycare?

No! The boarding price is all-inclusive and all boarding pups join the daycare pack each weekday- and participate in similar activities on Saturday & Sunday when we only offer boarding.

What happens if I cannot drop-off or pick-up my dog during Dogtown business hours?

We are not staffed to do “after-hours” pickups, but can work with you to arrange for mid-day drops/pickups if arranged ahead of time (during the “doggy playtime”), although additional costs will apply.

Do you provide treats for daycare & boarding dogs?

We do not give treats or food to the pups unless we have prior approval or food is provided (since so many dogs have special dietary needs, we don’t want to risk upsetting anyone’s tummy!). Please make sure that all food is clearly labeled – both when boarding and if you choose to bring “lunch” for your daycare dog.

What are your boarding and day care requirements?

The safety and health of your pet is our first concern. Our boarding and daycare contract includes a personality profile so we can have some basic information about your dog’s temperament and match him/her with the right playmates. All dogs in daycare must demonstrate adequate social skills and the ability to play safely. On the first stay at Dogtown, we will evaluate your dog’s interactions with other guests. If we find your dog isn’t daycare friendly, we will place him/her in his/her room/crate for the remainder of the day, except for solo potty breaks.

Prior to boarding and/or daycare, you must provide proof of the following vaccinations from your vet:

  • Bordetella – within the past 6 months (for both the intranasal and injected versions of the vaccination)
  • Parvovirus & Distemper- given annually or every 3 years
  • Rabies – proof of valid vaccination with either the shot given annually or every 3 years

All dogs 6 months or older must be spayed or neutered.

We also require that your dog be on a regular flea and tick prevention program.  For full terms and conditions, review the Austin Dogtown contract.

Do you administer medications?

Yes. We administer medications (pills, ointments, etc.) on a case-by-case basis. Just provide the medication and instructions on drop off. If your dog has had a recent medical issue, we will require a release from your vet before being allowed back into day care or boarding.

Are you insured?

Yes, of course! We are fully insured

Can I tour your facility?

Absolutely.  We do require appointments for all tours, information gathering, etc – because at Dogtown, it’s all about the dogs and we give them a lot of freedom to roam and play. We use all of our open areas for the pups and try to maintain a safe pack atmosphere throughout the day, So we have to be careful how we introduce new folks, even if they’re just passing through!  It’s all about fun and safety for the pups with us :).  Just e-mail us and we can get a tour set up! Keep in mind that the physical tour is almost exactly what the video tour is (except the fact that all of the dogs are not roaming about during physical tours).

What is your cancellation policy?

Our non-holiday policy requires 72 hours notice for canceling a boarding reservation and 24 hours notice for daycare (so by 7am 72 hours or 24 hours prior to the start of a reservation). During busy holiday periods, we require 10 to 21 days notice (and a credit card # will be taken to hold all reservations). If these guidelines are not met, additional fees will apply. Click here for more detailed cancellation policy information.

How do I make a reservation?

All reservations must be made via email- send a message to info@dogtownaustin.com to schedule your initial interview and daycare or boarding reservation. If your dog hasn’t stayed with us before, we will email you a copy of our enrollment documentation for your review and completion. The completed, signed paperwork and vaccination records must be emailed to hold the reservation and before you drop off your pup.

What should I bring when my dog boards?

We provide blankets and toys for the dogs for their stay :). Please only bring enough food for your pup’s visit in disposable baggies– but please make sure they are clearly labeled.

Do you offer grooming?

Yes! We are happy to give exit baths and nail trims to our daycare and boarding guests by reservation. We also offer full service grooming and can get that scheduled via e-mail! Click here for our grooming services.

What happens if I don’t make it to pickup by dog from daycare by 6:30?

Daycare Pickups end at 6:30pm- If your dog is picked up between 6:30- 6:45, then the card on file will automatically be charged a $15 late pickup fee (we must receive an email or phone call letting us know that you are on the way or your pup will be boarded). At 6:45 PM, your pup will be boarded for the evening at the rate of $50 per night (in addition to the day of daycare charge). You will be asked to pickup between 7-10 AM the following day (or 10am on Saturday).

What happens if my dog damages a crate or private room?

We do our best to make sure all pups are comfortable in their sleeping environment, but if your dog does damage a crate or private room (i.e. door, door frame, etc)- there will be an additional charge added to your bill depending on the extent of the damage.
